Wireless solutions typically falls under two categories: wireless
in-building access solutions and wireless building-to-building
wireless bridge. As corporate demands on data services increase,
wireless services are poised to provide the much needed high
speed connectivity.

Wireless Applications. Wireless T1 can be deployed to connect
your offices with eyesight. This can significantly reduce
your monthly private circuit charges because a dedicated local
T1 loop is no longer required. Therefore, you pay nothing
to the local Telco.

Many applications are made possible for the first time remotely
with the service of high speed wireless connectivity. Traditional
accounting and database applications that may require a Citrix
server or Windows Terminal Services can now be deployed in
remote locations without concern for bandwidth related obstacles.

Key
Technologies:
Dataframe's wireless high speed private circuits are based
on two wireless standards. The 802.11a/b standard and the
DOCSIS 1.1 open standard. Maximum throughput tops out at 50
Mb/s, actually providing higher speeds than a $5000/month
Telco T3 circuits. Without the need to share bandwidth, your
applications will run just as if the remote stations are physically
located on your network. The wireless technologies occupy
an airwave frequencie of 2.4 or 5.2Gbz range. These ranges
are designated as MMDS bands and require no FCC license. Although
the transmission power is limited to 1 watt, with proper antennas,
ranges of up to 10 miles can be achieved.
Addressing Security
Wireless transmissions has traditionally been subjected to
security concerns. This is no longer the case with the advent
of 40 and 128-bit (or higher) real time encryption. Wireless
transmission is now as secure as their wired counterparts.
The strength of the wireless encryption is similar to how
IPSEC encryption protects a VPN tunnel. Your data will not
be visible to the outside world.
Cost
Wireless technologies eliminated the need for dedicated Telco
circuits. Customers now have the flexibility of removing the
Telco from their local connectivity scenarios. The monthly
cost of a T1 is roughly $600, while a T3 can cost upwards
of $5000. The cost of the wireless technologies can often
be just a few thousand dollars. The time to recover the wireless
investment is usually just 6 months of T1 circuit costs.
