Multi-regional
businesses are discovering the awesome cost savings of using
VPNs instead of private line to interconnect their branch
offices worldwide. Case in point, a US based business would
have to pay roughly $2500 USD monthly to connect a branch
located in the far east say, Taiwan. The $2500 price tag would
provide roughly 256K of performance. Using local Internet
circuits (DSL) and connecting via VPN, the same office can
be connected for $200 per month, offering 512K of performance.
Getting twice the performance for less than 10% of cost is
not something easily dismissed. |
